There are two types of high definition liposuction San Jose & Palo Alto plastic surgeons at Illuminate offer: SmartLipo and VASER Lipo. SmartLipo, also called laser lipolysis, uses a special laser to target and heat up specific areas of stubborn fat, melting the fat cells which are then flushed away by the body. This is a much less invasive procedure than ordinary liposuction and is great for tough areas like love handles or the muffin top. VASER Lipo follows a similar idea, but we use ultrasonic energy to target fat cells. This allows us to perform a much more precise sculpting procedure, literally etching the contours and aesthetic features you are looking for into your body.
We will apply local anesthetic so you should feel virtually nothing as we apply the laser or VASER lipo device to the targeted area. The amount of time your procedure will take will depend on the number of areas and the size of the areas you wish to treat. The whole procedure should take no more than a few hours and can take considerably less time. VASER Lipo is markedly faster than SmartLipo because the ultrasonic energy is so tightly focused.
Unlike regular lipo, which involves vacuuming fat out with a device called a cannula, high definition liposuction in San Jose & Palo Alto is minimally invasive, which means there is far less post-procedure pain or discomfort and you should be able to resume most activities within a few days, with full physical activity possible after no more than a few weeks.
