This treatment is ideal for people with pesky pockets of fat situated around the core section, in the love handles, stomach and back – areas that tend to be particularly resistant to diet and exercise.* The ideal candidate may have an extra 20 pounds to lose but is not considered obese. These treatments are not an effective solution for patients who fall into the category of medically obese. With SculpSure Palo Alto patients find it to be a godsend, getting their bodies to the next level without making fitness their full-time job!
You are probably familiar with Coolsculpting, a procedure that freezes fat to remove it. At Illuminate in Palo Alo SculpSure is a more modern treatment that does the opposite — using heat in the form of light to reduce body fat. During a SculpSure treatment, fat cells are heated to a temperature between 107 and 117 degrees Fahrenheit (42-47 degrees Celsius) which damages them beyond repair. While the most commonly treated areas of the body are the abdomen and love handles, SculpSure applicators can also be used on the back, arms, thighs, and more.
During treatments, four applicators are pressed against the skin with straps. Patients feel cycles of warmth or deep heating along followed by cooling to maximize comfort. Our Palo Alto med spa practitioners adjust energy levels if necessary, but for the most part, patients tolerate their treatments well. Immediately after treatment, there are no visible signs of having anything done.
One of the great benefits of this procedure is that there is no downtime with treatment. You will have no problem returning to your normal, daily routine (exercise included), immediately after this procedure is performed. The only side effects that you might experience are mild tenderness and/or firmness in the treated area, but this usually subsides over a few weeks. You can easily schedule a treatment with minimal disruption to your typical day.
This is a great treatment for anyone who is looking to quickly and easily eliminate excess fat. The procedure treats “fluffy fat” not the firm visceral fat surrounding organs.
In the first 6-8 weeks, your body will naturally shed these cells, leaving you with a more contoured, slimmer appearance.* After 12 weeks, your body will have fully expelled the disrupted fat cells.* While lack of attention to diet and exercise can lead to growth in your remaining fat cells, the ones that this procedure removes are gone forever.*
The cost will vary greatly depending on the number and size of treated areas. The typical cost of a treatment series is usually $1500 to $3000. Our patients have been very happy using services like CareCredit and Alphaeon for this purpose. Many of our Palo Alto SculpSure patients will choose to apply for credit cards with longer terms at 0% interest.
The SculpSure technology is superior to Coolsculpting for a few reasons:
SculpSure is more accurate in targeting and treating fat cells. While CoolSculpting involves freezing fat and other cells (including nerve cells) below the skin’s surface, SculpSure treatments target only fat cells. A number of patients have expressed nerve pain following CoolSculping, but this does not occur with SculpSure.
There is truly no downtime. It is not uncommon for patients to be swollen, bruised and numb after CoolSculpting. After a SculpSure treatment, patients may be slightly sore, but there is almost no visible sign of treatment.
SculpSure produces even results that do not result in contour irregularities like “shelving” and “shark bites.” CoolSculpting can result in an uneven, unattractive reduction.
Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (PAH) is a side effect from CoolSculpting treatment that actually stimulates fat growth. There have been no reports of PAH with SculpSure in Palo Alto.
In most cases, multiple treatments are necessary to achieve your ideal results. We recommend at least two sessions.
Patients will never achieve surgical outcomes from a SculpSure treatment, however, they should expect to see a 10-24% improvement with each session.* This is the perfect treatment for treating stubborn pockets of fat without downtime. It is not recommended for full body contouring.
